Job Summary
The Sales Account Manager will be responsible for managing existing client accounts, developing new business opportunities, and driving sales growth within the wholesale fruit and vegetable market. This role requires a strong understanding of the produce industry, excellent customer relationship skills, and a passion for fresh, high-quality food products.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and nurture relationships with existing clients, ensuring their produce needs are met and fostering long-term partnerships.
- Identify and target new clients within the retail, restaurant, and distribution sectors to expand our customer base.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve sales targets, increase revenue, and grow market share.
- Provide exceptional customer service by understanding client needs, resolving issues, and offering product recommendations tailored to their requirements.
- Stay informed about the latest produce trends, pricing, and market demands, ensuring clients are kept up to date on product availability and seasonal offerings.
- Manage pricing negotiations, ensuring competitive offers while maintaining profitability.
- Coordinate and oversee client orders, ensuring timely delivery and product quality standards are consistently met.
- Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and market analysis for senior management to track performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with the procurement, logistics, and finance teams to ensure smooth operations and client satisfaction.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust sales strategies accordingly and capitalise on market opportunities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sales Account Manager or in a similar role, preferably within the fresh produce or food wholesale industry.
- Strong understanding of the fruit and vegetable wholesale market, including seasonal trends and supply chain dynamics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Results-oriented, with a track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales management tools.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to meet with clients as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the fresh produce industry or wholesale food distribution.
- Established network within the retail or food service sectors.
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management in the produce industry.
