The Role 

As a Computer Vision Engineer, you will be an integral part of our technology team, focusing on the development and implementation of computer vision solutions that enable real-time analysis and insights for agriculture applications. You will have a central role in crafting and executing sophisticated computer vision algorithms tailored for embedded platforms, with a specific emphasis on NVIDIA Jetson (Orin and Nano)

If successful your primary responsibility will be to develop solutions for crop detection, comprehensive analysis, and precise guidance of a robotic arm for optimal crop harvesting.

Requirements

● Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to define and refine technical requirements for computer vision applications, ensuring alignment with business objectives and feasibility on edge platforms.

● Lead the development and optimisation of computer vision algorithms customised for edge devices, enabling real-time analysis of agricultural imagery, including satellite data and on-site camera feeds.

● Implement sophisticated image processing techniques, object detection, image segmentation, and feature extraction to derive meaningful insights from visual data.

● Curate and preprocess datasets for training and fine-tuning deep learning models, maintaining data quality and integrity.

● Take ownership of creating, deploying, and fine-tuning deep learning models using frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch, optimising for optimal performance on edge devices and NVIDIA Jetson platforms.

● Stay updated with the latest advancements in computer vision, AI, and machine learning, and apply innovative techniques to enhance our agricultural solutions for edge deployment.

● Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to seamlessly integrate computer vision solutions into our agricultural technology platforms, focusing on edge capabilities.

Experience 

● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with a focus on computer vision, machine learning, or deep learning.

● Demonstrated experience in developing computer vision algorithms, including object detection, image segmentation, and deep learning models.

● Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or equivalent, along with hands-on experience in deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.

● Solid understanding of image processing techniques, feature extraction, and neural network architectures.

● Expertise in deploying computer vision solutions on edge devices, particularly embedded systems and NVIDIA Jetson platforms (Orin and Nano).

● Previous exposure to agricultural data or related sectors is a plus.

● Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

● Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset for cross-functional teamwork.

The Role

The successful applicant will be an integral part of our robotics division, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimising end effectors for robotic systems tailored to the specific needs of the agriculture industry. The ideal candidate will have a background in robotics, mechatronics, and a passion for creating solutions that address the unique challenges of modern agriculture.

Key Responsibilities: 

· Lead the design and development of specialised end effectors for robotic systems used in agriculture applications.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to ensure the end effector meets performance and functionality requirements.

· Build and iterate on prototypes of end effectors, considering factors such as durability, precision, and adaptability to various crops and farming environments.

· Conduct thorough testing and validation to ensure the end effector meets performance specifications and safety standards.

· Continuously optimise end effector designs for improved efficiency, reliability, and ease of integration with robotic platforms.

· Work closely with the team to seamlessly integrate end effectors into existing and future robotic systems.

· Collaborate with internal teams to understand the specific needs and challenges of agricultural applications, incorporating feedback into the design and development process.

· Communicate effectively, presenting technical concepts and progress updates in a clear and accessible manner.

· Stay abreast of the latest advancements in robotics, mechatronics, and agricultural technology to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

· Contribute to research initiatives aimed at pushing the boundaries of agricultural robotics.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's or advanced degree in robotics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.

· Proven experience in designing and developing end effectors for robotic systems.

· Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modelling and simulation.

· Strong understanding of mechatronics, automation, and robotics principles.

· Familiarity with agricultural practices and challenges is a plus.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
